The Sonic Wire Sculptor turns your 3D drawing into sound. It introduces a simple yet deep connection between visual and audio composition.
The app is easily graspable and intuitive, allowing someone with no musical or drawing background to lauch it and start exploring. At the same time SWS goes deep and encourages musicians and artists alike to explore new ideas in their craft. You can even share your drawings with others by twitter or email - right from within the app!
Sonic Wire Sculptor is based on a musical instrument by Amit Pitaru which has been shown in museums and galleries world wide. A great effort has been placed in reworking the app to take advantage of the the iPhone's unique audio and input capabilities.
This iPhone version was lead by Zach Gage with Amit's support. Big props to Zach Lieberman and James Paterson for their seminal help.
Sonic Wire Sculptor requires headphones, without them you may only hear limited audio, especially on the low (bass) tones.

Such a cool app. I gifted this app as well and the recipient states that it is fully engaging and fun!
It's fun, but needs a bit of work
Sonic wire sculptor is a fun app, but there are a few things that should be added. First of all it would be nice to be able to change the speed of the circle's rotation(the tempo). Also, it'd be cool if you can save a certain line (like a certain pattern of dots/lines) and switch between saved lines in the menu, so you can have steady rythms recorded. A few more pitches would be nice too.
Another thing, I don't quite like the way that when you move the camera, the pitch changes too. Like if you move the camera to see a certain line to be higher than before, then that line is actually played higher. You should be able to toggle that on and off.
Other than that, it's fun but a little hard to keep a steady finger and do anything complex.
This app is salvation to a mentally ambient musician such as myself. Anywhere you touch on the screen becomes a note or pitch. It is 3D so the sound comes back around in regular intervals. you can add as much or as little. Draw circles, they become notes, they rotate and play again. You can save, you can undo. You need headphones as the sound is stereo and will travel from one headphone to the other. I've been playing with this for an hour and it looks like it might even replace Facebook as my tech time. Now I can play the sounds in my head. Ahh...
